Default 3.5" RC or 2.5" TF

Looking to lift up my jeep and put 35's on after this upcoming winter.

First off I am a college kid and money is a big concern, looking for my cheapest route.

Need some help whether I should choose a 3.5" RC lift or 2.5" TF lift, with either one I would be purchasing a new front drive shaft and front adj. track bar along with gussets and sleeves. If I go with the TF I will be getting adj. front lower CA's. The 3.5" RC comes with non-adj. front lower CA's. The RC lift comes with basically everything the TF lift does but a few extras (pitman arm, brackets for both trackbars, few other things I can't think of). The RC lift is only $500 dollars compared to the TF lift for $600 dollars and the additional $300 for control arms. So basically 3.5" RC for $500 with arms or 2.5" TF with arms for $900. The $400 gap really attracts me to the 3.5" RC lift(plus the extra inch!) but I have a big concern. Will the nonadjustable arms be ok? will I need more arms with the 3.5"? Are the parts that come with the 3.5" enough?

I really would like to save the extra $400 to help pay for the driveshaft or what not but I don't want to be kicking myself in the ass down the road for choosing the cheaper kit, or the other way around and pay an extra $400 when I could be sitting an inch higher for cheaper.

I appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Dom

Personally, i would take adjustables over fixed arms and brackets any day of the week. But your budget and your expectations are the key deciding factors.

I had the same question. I ended up going with the Teraflex 2.5". The staggering amount of satisfied customers is what swayed me more than anything else. I think RC has vastly improved their RD process and their customer service is top notch but I'd rather never have to mention a companies customer service than applaud how wonderful it is. In the end I was willing to pay a little more for that consistency of performance and add additional things as needed.

thanks, I've read that thread a couple times now lol. I just don't know what to do, I suppose I could always get the RC for now and upgrade arms later if I wanted. Like I said with either kit I will get the adj front track bar. If i do go with the RC should I use it along with the bracket and drop pitman arm or by itself?

Such a tough decision. I just need the hit the lotto then get me some 40's

Have you installed your kit yet and are you happy with it?

Its just that the more I think about the price, $600 kit, $300 front lowers, $130 front adj., $1030 total, I could just buy me a 4 inch RC for $200 more and get adj front track and all adj. arms with brake line extensions.

My mind is going crazy, maybe its just trying to figure this out while reading organic chemistry . Already confused enough

Look, I just went through this. I chose the RC 3.5 and I am thrilled with it. I rides great with the new 2.0 shocks. I would do it again in a minute. I really don't think you need the adjustable arms. I had no problem getting my Jeep aligned. It runs straight down the road with out an issue.

Nope, havent installed it yet. Still waiting on my tires.

I know how confusing it all is. Best of luck with your decision.

Glad to hear! thanks for the response. Did you install it yourself? If so how long did it take?

I am going with Maxxis Bighorns (I think). I havent ordered yet. Just got my wheels in yesterday. I can relate to your difficulty in deciding as I've been that way on pretty much every part that I've ordered.
