Does the 2 Dr first under seat, or in the factory location?

We have a system that relocates the muffler under the JK and empties out the back.

P/N 39524, this is for the 3.6.

In regards to drone, there can be or might not be depending on how fast you go, and if your cruise speed is in the "drone zone".

+1 on the AFE high tuck - I have the 2.5 on an Unlimited. Like the sound and in conjunction with a K&N filter got some mild power plus mpg gains. Definitely not a power drop. I'd do it again any time

There are many guys on the forum who have degraded their performance by messing with the exhaust on the new motor.

Truth be told...most vehicles these days have just about all the power squeezed out of them from the factory with regards to breathing and exhaust. Vehicles that benefit from intakes and exhaust the most are forced induction.

Now I know there will be a whole host of people on here that will disagree, but I think the 3.6 is great the way it sits. I would not mess with the exhaust to try and gain power. Sound is another matter.
Your correct, I'm a mechanic and gear head at heart. I own 3 highly modified vehicles and work on everything from Jeeps and Mustang GT's to 911 Turbo's. Cars these days are designed really well, with the strict emissions and fuel economy standards engineers almost never over look anything. With variable valve timing, variable intake runners, direct injection or turbo chargers on a lot of cars an engineer isn't going to over look 2 MPG and 20 horse power from an air cleaner box. With that being said, I love after market exhaust for the sound, nothing like a nice tuned sound thats not terribly loud. Just my 2 cents.

IMO If im gonna do this, i might as well gain some ground clearance too & get rid of the low hanging rear muffler all together.

Im seeing pricing on the AFE system below (2.5inch @ $366 & 3 inch @ $418)
I dont believe this engine would benefit from the larger 3 inch...i think it needs the back pressure.

oh crap ! afe doesnt make either of these systems for a 2 door (WTH) !?!?!

Ok so with a bit of work you should be able to make the AFE fit your 2 door just fine. I have heard both up close and the 3 inch just sounds way better then the 2.5 inch tubing is all. it is a deeper sound and doesnt sound ricey at all. The muffler you are putting on is what is causing your back pressure the size of the tubing really is just giving you the resonance after that really. I welded my new exhaust on and honestly I had to trim a few inches off on my 4 door to make everything fit up nicely and sit on the stock hangers nicely. The 2 door im sure you could make it fit just fine if you are even semi handy with a cut off wheel and then clamp or weld it all up.

There are plenty of other options but most all regardless of who makes them will need a bit of love to make them fit perfect no matter what.

Does anyone know of an exhaust like the AFE or dynomax that relocates, but doesn't add some god awful loud noise? I think it's silly as hell to purposely make a quiet vehicle noisy just for the sake of sounding falsely powerful...
