Default 3.6l Engine cover removal

This question may be pretty elementary, but how do you remove the engine cover on the 3.6L? I do not recall seeing anything in the owners manual and pulling up on it netted zero results. I do not feel like breaking something off which I cannot see. Thanks.

I think if you remove it, Chrysler will void your warranty

Just give it a tug. The first time it's a lil tough but there are no bolts in it just grab under the front and pull! It makes you wonder why Chrysler would use these as they seem to hold both heat and moisture? Ive had mine off for quite a while now.

I think it's just for aesthetic reasons

I asked a sales guy about the plastic cover...he said it was probably for when people are reaching in to their engine bay to check the fluids or something so they don't burn their hands. SMH...

Lift from the front. It pivots in the back. Once you get it up about 2 inches just pull it toward the front of the jeep. When putting it back on, line up the two pivot points with their rear mounting area and pivot it down. Be sure to give it a good tap to seat it.

I heard the reason Chrysler installed these were to dampen engine noise

X2, this is the way to remove it! The front has rubber snap-in's and the back has two pivots. It's as easy to remove as your girlfriends bra! As for why it's there, because there was a study put out years ago that showed people prefer a simpler looking engine compartment over a complicated one and that the more complicated it appears the more it is assumed to be costly to repair and/or to have more problems. So the car manufacturers found a simple way of making it appear simple by just covering most of the engine to make those simple folk feel more at ease.
