Anyone that has been running without it have you noticed it being any louder?

As for why it's there, because there was a study put out years ago that showed people prefer a simpler looking engine compartment over a complicated one and that the more complicated it appears the more it is assumed to be costly to repair and/or to have more problems. You think the dealership would try to void my warranty if say I just wanted to take it off and paint it a different color for no other reason than I felt like it...?
