As for the dealer, not sure they would even know unless you told them.
Hey I just read this again, and are you speaking of a larger throttle body or just a spacer? A spacer isn't going to do anything besides add a very small amount of low end throttle response, gone by 1200 rpms.

Absolutely. More airflow, calculation tables based on less, which means anytime you are running in open loop you are running the risk of running lean.

Sorry if I wasn't clear....I was referring to a spacer, not a larger throttle body.
Still trying to spread around that Viper TB causes a lean condition. Some people will never let it rest. No pinging or lean condition because of a spacer or a throttle body. I know I actually have the part installed for over a year and even have a Superchips with it. I am just crazy!!
I have seen some really ridiculous comments in this thread. As stated you want to solve your pinging problem start pulling spark plugs. Do not pour a bunch of snake oil down your motor. Pinging is almost always due to poor quality fuel, or bad spark plugs, or excessive cyclinder head temps.
Exam the damn plugs and you will be able to tell what is really going on.

That's why at low coolant temp it runs rich. Low temp=open loop, like a choke, bypassing any O2 readings available until it reach operating temp.
Open loop at WOT results in full fuel delivery, which in the programming should be full fuel potential.

i started having pinging at 10k..at 25k now and ive been running 89 octane for a few months now..all different brands. no pinging at all. dealer said its common and "normal" (pshhhhhh).. i know its a band aid but they said 2k-3k it was okay to hear it and they wouldnt do anything. lifetime bumper to bumper but it bothers me still even 15k later

What does letting more air in do without adding more fuel? Cause you to run lean.
Certainly there is fuel overhead in the fuel maps in open loop. Be it with a superchips tune or the OEM PCM. Start adding things up, a less restrictive filter, a larger bore throttle body, headers allowing better cylinder evacuation and an which supports higher exhaust velocity than stock. Alone, I'm sure none of these things make a difference as there's enough overhead to support them. Start adding them up and you start pushing the limits in open loop. Develop a knocking problem, and hopefully you left a path to return some items to stock or are prepared to open your wallet to the shop that can build you a custom tune with the DiabloSport Predator.
The engine and PCM are not totally dynamic with adjustments to fuel trim. At roll out and under heavy acceleration the vehicle does not use the O2 sensors and runs in open loop. When you run in open loop, fuel trim is table based, calculated from known mechanicals and what they are expected to deliver. Change mechanicals and you run the risk of running lean. This means getting more air in the front or better cylinder evacuation from the rear.
