3.8L Engine Build
how could 5w30 oil solve the problem? That is a thinner oil than the factory spec? I run syn blend in my 08, but will go to full synthetic when I cross 10K miles. I have one of the "lifetime powertrain" jeeps and want to keep that warranty. My local dealer was fine with runing the blend and full synthetics. Not sure about weight however...
Are you saying that standard oil is preferred over the Synthetic's?
I switched to Castrol's Synthetic's in the anemic 3.8 figuring it would not breakdown because of the increase operating heat. I always used synthetic in the race cars, close tolerance , high heat, etc
The real question is why are these engines using oil? Is it cylinder washdown into the combustion chamber? Are these engines really tight tolerance? or the opposite.

We are actually testing with catch cans right now to prove our point - more on that later this year.
