Default +3 Mpgs with Airaid!!!

I know there has been a lot of discussion and props given to Airaid ... well I installed mine last weekend and needed to post. A few months ago I calculated 11.1 mpgs after adding 265/75/16 BFG A/Ts with hard city driving in my auto w/ 4:10s. After 75 miles of highway/city driving with the new Airaid CAI I calculated 15.3 mpgs. This is no joke ... maybe I just got lucky, but figured you all should know. Sounds great too. Best $225 ever spent.

ive got a 6 speed with the 32" tires and 4:10 gears, i was getting like16.5 mpg before i put the airaid intake on and im pretty dissapointed than now im only getting like 17!! but i broke the housing for the temp sensor when reinstalling it, could that be broken to the point that it would cause the gain to stay minimal?

If you are using the trip computer, your calculations are probably wrong. Use actual miles driven and gallons used. How far off is your speedo after getting new tires???

How did you calculate this after 75 miles of driving? I find this 3 mpg gain very hard to believe. I gained maybe .5 mpg when I intalled mine.

I don't think my speedometer was affected too much by the tires. also, I broke the housing on the temp sensor as well, but secured it w/ some electrical tape. How would that affect mpg's? I know what some are saying about the trip calc., but it is a relative 1st and 2nd read. As far as only going 75 miles ... yeah, it's leveling off some (about 14.8 now), but still suprisingly good compared to where I was at.

Your first driving was with hard city miles. Your second driving was combined highway/city. Thats emough to make the 3mpg difference.

i was thinking if the sensor wire broke in there (because we cant see the wire) that it fuel injection might be off because it adjusts amounts of fuel by temp. but then again if that were the case that would probly register with the comp as an error and it would run like sh!t.

but i did my calculations with a calculator, and the jeep's computer is always wrong by like 2 or 3 mpgs

(If you are looking for a difference in the jeep's computer, then try resetting the mpgs with the button just like you do with the tripometor. if you havnt done so already)

Yeah, my mpg comp is off by 2 mpgs. And so far I think the temp sensor is secure. I've also reset the mpg comp after both the tires and the airaid. It is reading most accurately now. The city/highway driving in no way fluxuates 3 mpgs ... never has. At best it has changed by 1 mpg or so. I've been back to the hard city driving so I will do another calculation for y'all. My guess is that I will be up by at least 2 mpgs still.

I dont care if I get better MPG or worse. I installed the Airaid and love the driveability now. I also installed a Dynomax cat-back and below 3grand where it struggled before is night and day different. Has lots more torque off the start. Chrysler really detuned these things from the factory.

How is everyone breaking the sensor on install? I have an AirRaid CAI coming in this week and would like to know what to do to prevent this from happening...
