Default 318?

When I get my jeep and put a 2in lift on it, it will more than likely kill the lifetime warrenty. So I was thinking, I got a 318 engine thats just sitting in my 98 dakota. Giving that its got over 200k miles, it will need rebuliding but I was thinking about throwing it in and getting rid of the v6. Everyone loves a Hemi but everyone also knows they come with a price tag.

Has anyone done or know anyone thats swaped in a 318.

I would guess the "Magnum" motors should work as well.

Yall got yearly inspections up there? If so, you might wanna reconsider. It's not a legal swap to put an older engine in a new vehicle anymore. The engine has to be the same year or newer.

Im not looking for a great gain in power, I was planning on going with a 2in lift and either 33s or 35s. Where I live theres alot of hills to climb for just normal daily driving. A friend of mine said I could get a new small v8 engine for around $1500.

Plus with a smaller v8 I wouldnt have to worry about getting too rough with the transmission cause of all the extra HP. I just want something that will turn the wheels easier

If your looking to turn the wheels easier....REGEAR!!

Guys with 33's and 513's can spin the tires on a Auto tranny from a dead stop.

I have 513's, 6 speed, and 35's and think my JK has good power...not GREAT but Good!!

O....And back to your 1st point....a 2 inch lift will not kill your warrranty!!

Sorry bro, not gonna work in the great state of North Carolina. Can't put an older engine in anything new. Engine has to be the same year or newer. You could do the swap, but when you inspection runs out, you'll never be able to run it on the road again. Would be awesome, but I'd imagine you still want to drive it. :(

A lift dosent void the warranty? Well thats good news but I dont really understand how. A buddy of mine bought a new silverado and lifted it which killed the warranty.

I was just planning on swapping to a v8 cause I figured the lift would kill the warrenty. I wonder how well a stock 4.10 would turn a set of 33s. Or could I get away with regearing to 5.13 and still keep the warranty?
