318?
A lift dosent void the warranty?
Well thats good news but I dont really understand how. A buddy of mine bought a new silverado and lifted it which killed the warranty.
I was just planning on swapping to a v8 cause I figured the lift would kill the warrenty. I wonder how well a stock 4.10 would turn a set of 33s. Or could I get away with regearing to 5.13 and still keep the warranty?

But, on the other hand, I have heard that some dealerships go out of their way to not cover any modified jeep. So find a god dealer before you take in for repairs and such. IMO

Sorry all. Old engine in new car doesn't go anywhere in the U.S.
That's Federal regulations.
Put a 318 in a JK and you now have an off road only vehicle that has to towed to where you want to wheel.
Quite honestly, I just don't see the need for all the horse power gains that so many are looking for.
Whats the point? If you want to go fast off the line or have a very fast top end why buy a Jeep?
Gears and all I can understand for the trail. But too much of these and it makes the Jeep impractical as a DD.
IMHO I wouldn't want a JK that was an off-road only vehicle. If I was going for that kind of toy there are many older less expensive Jeeps out ther to buy and modify.
But all of this is just my opinion

Legalities Aside, swapping one of the Magnum engines into a JK would be a daunting task. There are a lot more things to consider than just the cost of the engine. I believe the computing systems are different between the two and the Bell housing does not match up either. You would likely be looking at running an NV3500 tranny behind the Magnum. That is why I said it is a good swap for a TJ. Everything is compatible, similar to the Hemi swaps in the JK. I priced out having a used 360 swaped into my 03 TJ Rubi before I bought my JK. It was running almost $9,000 for a turn key swap. With the Hemi kits available now, you would spend nearly the same amount to have a Hemi over the Magnum, not to mention it would be a legal swap. Something to consider if you ever plan on selling your JK some day.
thanks for the answer...I was thinking about this swap myself...not for speed or off the line...but towing power and extra grunt off road. I LOVED my 318 in my dakota 4x4 I owned...but if a 5.7 hemi swap is easier and just as cheap/expensive.....then the hemi is the easy choice. can we use the multi"tronic" hemi where it shuts down 4 cyl for crusing ?
