Default 33's or 35's ?

Well I'm new to Jeep, But I love the Jeep World.
I have a 2008 JK 4dr, 3" Teraflex lift, and I can't decide on whether to go 33's or 35's? I'm concerned that with the 35's I'll have to change the gear ratio and I'll lose power? Seems like a lot of Jk owners have 35's. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Happy to be invol ved in the JK community

I've got 33's and it feels gutless.

I think 33's will look too small. I have 35's and they look just right, like they came with the vehicle. I think you will have to change the gearing either way....

redrock 2"bb and 35s VS stonewhite 2"bb and 33s:

im awaiting my FT 3" and the 35s are itching to get rolling!

Honestly, if you're even thinking about going 35's, you should probably get them and deal with the power loss. If you don't, I can almost guarantee that you'll regret it if you don't.

Question Only 1 Question??

My question is this.......... what does you dealer say about your warranty. pertaining to mods.
If the dealer can even remotely blame your warranty issue ( what ever it may be )on your lift and tire they will!!
I asked 2 dealers in Baton Rouge La. 1 says nothing over 2" lift combined and nothing more than a stock Rubicon tire. The other says it is up to the dealer doing the warranty issue........
I asked my local dealer who says it is up to the dealer doing the warranty issue; but " if the claim can be traced back to the lift and tires we won't cover it it becomes customer PAY!!"

So I wanted to be safe I went 2" lift and 32.8" tire (stock Rubicon); Now after 36000 miles that may be a different story!!

Just Food For Thought.......................And Good Luck with your decision.

Sigh, ignorant dealers preying on customers. If the lift caused the failure, then yes, they can deny the claim, regardless of it being a 2" or 12" lift. However, they can't deny a claim on your radio or engine because of the lift. Magnuson-Moss Act is your friend.

plus if you're even thinking 35s and go with 33s instead.....you'll prolly eventually move up to 35s anyway

I was in the same dilemma as you. It depends on what you will be doing most with your JK and your budget. I love how great the 35's look on the JK's, but went with 33's as my JK is more of a pavement roller (for now) than a mudding-rock crawler. I go wheeling twice a month and I personally couldn't use that excuse to justify the loss of power over the extra two inches! I did however buy Mud Terrain Tires as my favorite local wheeling spot is the NJ Pine Barrens! (Very Muddy)!

I just put on some 16" Pro Comp 8179's and 33" Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ (Pix Below) and I must say that Im pretty happy with my decision! Oh... and no lose of power!
