OK,

You can recalibrate your speedometer with that auto/accu whatever calibrator thingie Northridge sells, its on the site....the stealerships can only calibrate you up to 32's.

Yes, 35 x12.5's fit on the stock rims....so will 37 x 12.5's, etc.

Recentering the steering wheel corrects the ESP issues almost everytime....essentially, its comparing steering input, to direction travelled...so if you are steering around a turn....but the speeds of the various tires, and or body lean, etc... tell the ESP you are slippin/flippin, it kicks in.

So - if the wife's in the jeep, it will lean a bit more in a turn, and, the tighter the turn, the more pronounced the speed differences will be from the tires to what the ESP thinks SHOULD be happening....

Essentially, if you are not centered, the ESP is getting a signal that the steering wheel is a bit turned, and therefore, expects that the tires should be going faster on the outside of that turn, etc....but they are going fine...the steering input is merely wrong....

The more you turn the wheel for real, the more the computer expects to see your outside tires speed up...and, the faster you go, the more sensitive to you "slipping" it gets....as its primary mission in life is to keep you from going so fast around the turn that you roll over, and cost them legal fees, etc.

OH, and as to 35's being only for "Extreme" rock crawling...it depends on where you wheel, and what you consider "Extreme"

At a local park, we have green, blue, black, and red trails.

Green's for stockers, blues are for somewhat modified, with some damage possible if not careful or unarmored, etc, blacks you need double lockers and armor and should not be afraid of a roll/metal carnage, and reds are for people who get bored with blacks, and want to up the ante, etc.

For tire size, greens can run with 27's and spotting, 29's and 31's, etc...have no problems.

For blues...your diffs are going to be in trouble with just 31's, and dark blues you'd better have at least 33's.

You can run some blacks with 33's, but you really need 35 - 37's to make it on the darker blacks....and for the reds, 37's are typically too small, especially on glacial morraines, etc....(Big boulder fields), where 44's, etc, tend to be more suited.

So - If the trails are rated from 1 - 10 in difficulty, just as an example, the reds around here might be a 6 or 7 compared to a competition course (We've built some competiion courses there...NEUROC has its event there, etc...)

I consider the harder reds, and so forth to be more extreme, and rarely go higher than lighter blacks in my Xterra for example...and its on 33 x 12.5's...I can't do the mid-dark blacks due to a lack of clearance....I'd need bigger tires.

Its hard to get bigger tires on an Xterra though...so, saying that what's "Extreme" for an Xterra might be "Extreme" for a JK, is like saying that what's "Fast" for a Prius is "Fast" for a Ferrari, etc...NOT apples and apples.

So, 35's are pretty much the new "Normal" large tire, just like 33's were 5 years ago....and 30's were 10 yrs before that, etc.

Same with rims....15's used to be Big Rims (When the car's had 13" rims...)

Now, 15" rims are puny, as the tires have grown, etc...17's are becoming the new "Normal" for off road use....more new off road sizes in 17" come out everyday...and they've even gone back to the easier to under stand inches rather than metric sizes for many of them, like a 37 x 12.5/17, etc.

37's will probably be the "new normal large tire" in a few more years...its just the way things are trending....and, importantly, the way trails are designed........

...Because if the stockers are coming with 32's....the "Stock" trails will adjust to riase the required clearances, etc...just like they did when the CJ's went to 27's stock, and the TJ's were 29" stock with a 30" option, etc.

The bar is continuously raised....and your diffs need to keep up....and taller tires are the only way to do that (Except maybe portal axles, etc...)

Also, the code for the esp can be a little tricky, make sure you hold the button for 7 seconds, let go, wait a second, then let the steering wheel go back to center. I turned mine off so i could do real doughnuts

RocksHurt, (or anyone else with hte same setup)

Are you happy with the the overall ride and drive, on and off-road, of the 33" tires with your stock 3.73 gears? I just bought an '08 Unlimited X Auto Trans. (3.73 gerars) with the base model tires (225/75/16) and am looking at the 2.5" Skyjacker coil lift and 33s, but don't want the added expense of regearing right now. I'm sure I'll notice more power loss vs those that already have the 32" tires stock and I accept this. It takes off really well as it is now, but those tiny tires are kind of funny looking . Beside I knew I was gona lift and get new tires anyhow, so I got the cheapest factory stuff I could. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks.

I have 33.5" toyo open country tires on AEV Pinters with a 4" skyjacker lift

I think it's the perfect combo. I can make it through all the obsticles the jeeps with the bigger tires go through but with zero rubbing even at full flex

I dont know about you but I can't stand it when the tires rub off road

you cant tell me that the 35's dont rub and handle on the road as well, I know the 33's are pushing it so to all you 35' guys out there are you sure you are not just trying to convince yourself that you made the right choice being you spent so much money?
