Default 33s and gearing

I just bought a set of 33x11.5 bf goodrich AT tires, will i have to change my gearing on my stock 2dr wrangler B package, or will it be fine. I don't really know much about gearing.

thanks!

I have an auto trans w/ 4:10s. I just put on 285/16 Bridgestone Dueler Revos which are 33s and 11.5" wide. I only noticed a very slight difference when pulling a grade, but not enough to worry about. But I do also have a CAI w/ throttle body riser, which did give me a little more power.

Yes, you will have to recalibrate the speedo/odo with the larger tires. Most jeep dealers will be able to "flash" the computer to do that for you. My 285s made my speedo read almost 7 mph slower than I am actually going.
You can also buy a programmer, a Hypertec or Accupro (I think they call it) and recalibrate it, as well as a number of other things yourself. Plan on spending some $$$. The Accupro is about $180. and the Hypertec is around $400.
Good Luck.....

yes, but if they can get a 32" you would have only about a 3% difference in read speed and distance traveled. so at 55 you would actually be doing a 56.7.

when i got my jeep my tires were a about a whole 29" tall. so when i installed 33" tires on mine, the difference was quite a bit. at 55 i was actually traveling 62.7 mph. a difference of 14%.

The problem is finding a dealer who will flash your computer to a 32" tire size. by doing that they are then in the know that the odometer is not and will not be reading correctly, causing a problem. that is illegal. if you do it to your vehicle, and sell the vehicle and not admit openly and honestly to it, you are tampering with the read mileage of the odometer.

The programmers (Hypertech, Pro Comp) that adjust your speedo will take care of the odometer as well correct?

i believe when you use the programmer to adjust tire size and gearing that is all you need to do for the odometer to be correct. because things are figured by gearing and tire size.
