Default 35s with 3.21 gears

Hey everyone. Have a question and wanted to get some input from anyone running 3.21 gears with 35" tires.

I have a 2012 Sahara JKU with Auto. My Teraflex 2.5" coils and Bilsteins are shipping this week. I would like to go with 35s on my stock 18" wheels, but I think at best I should only go to 33s until I can re-gear. I've seen the gear chart for the 2012s - http://www.*********.com/forum/f96/2...chart-1292355/

But some people are telling me I'll be fine here in Florida and I will only have issues when going up a grade at highway speeds (downshift from overdrive). I do wheel my Jeep in old quarries and such around here so I do not want to spoil any off road performance with the 35s.

Thanks in advance for the input.

Can't say much on 35's but I'm running 33's with 3.21 in a '12 JKU. I can say that I haven't noticed a ill effect on the highway or offroad, however it does feel like to high of a gear for true overall performance. This is why I will be regearing in the near future probably to 4.56's or maybe 4.88's. So in short I believe you could run 35's with 3.21's but I don't think you'll be satisfied in the long run.

I'm running 35's with 3.21 in a 07 with 6 speed. The only thing is I don't have a 6 gear unless I'm on a flat road. I don't even use 6th because I'm constantly downshifting to just get over an overpass. 1-5 have pretty good pull. Driving without od doesn't bother me till I can get it regeared. To each it's own though.

Went to the local dealer just to see what all the fuss is about this new motor. Must say I was impressed. But I did drive a JKU on 35's with the 321 gear and it was a dog, would not get out of its own way. Drove another JKU on 35's and the 373 gear and it was better. Still think I would go with at least a 410 gear or maybe even more.

35s with 3.21's on my 08... No power issues, just hardly ever use 6th.

So 4.88s were too low for 35s? I am trying to decide between 4.56 and 4.88.

4.88s were to low for me with the 35s and a 6spd would like to have 4.56s even with my 37s

Good info.. I have 35" Duratracs which run small for 35s, so I think I will go with 4.56s, especially since I drive a lot of the highway.
