Default 35's, automatic and regearing?

Ok, here's the question, is anyone running 35's on a 2010 or older JK that has an automatic that has not re-geared? I've seen arguments both ways and recommendations. But would like to hear from those that are currently have this setup and how they like the setup. Computer mods needed? And any and all pics too! Contemplating going this route myself on my daily driver.... Only plus I have is that my job is only about 6 miles from my house! Thanks for the input.

I have a 2010 JKU auto on 35's and I haven't regeared yet. It's not as bad as I thought it would be, but you'll definitely feel a difference in power. The only thing I've used so far is my AEV Procal to set my shift points and speedo for 35's.

Definitely worth it though. It's my DD as well.

I ran my 35's for a few weeks on the stock 3.73 gears and an auto. Really wasn't as gutless as I had expected. I was actually tempted to hold off on my regear after having driven it. The gas mileage was ugly though. Not that it's improved much after regearing to 5.13...

Tomb, how do you feel about your 5.13 gears with 35's? Is the power difference enough to justify spending a few thousand to get it done? Thanks.

The regearing only ran me $1k, I live in a very mountainess and hilly region, and I do a bit of towing so yes. If I didn't? Eventually I would still want to as it would get old after awhile.

Should I pretty much kiss my overdrive goodbye or do the computer changes on the shift points help to eliminate the OD issue?

If I'm not mistaken, there's really no difference between a 2007 - 2011 JK besides a little 2011 interior alteration for better or worse, depending on your preference.

I have a 2008 unlimited auto on 315/70/17 with an OME HD lift (about 3-3.5").

I ran my 35's with my stock 3.73 gears for about 6 months and it was totally manageable and not that bad for around town and on fairly level hwy as long as my O/D was off 100% of the time. The only issue was my trips across mountain passes where climbing inclines had me dogged down going 50 mph with the 18-wheelers. It was painful.

Now that I have 5.13 gears i no longer have to turn off my O/D everytime I put the key in the ignition and maintaining 75mph while passing other vehicles on the hwy and while ascending mtn passes. It is money well spent and something you should seriously consider when the funds become available.

However, for your short commute and around town, with O/D off, you'll be pretty happy....much happier then you were with stock tires

With both the pre and post regearing set ups, I was running the superchips flashpaq and personally can't imagine life without it.
