35s on a moab or a 15" rim
Like many folks I have spent a few hou.....days on analyzing what I want tire/wheel wise. I like the KM2s and 35 seems like the best fit for my lift and wont require an imediate re-gear given the terrain of my area.
2 options are about $1500 but I can't decide what would be best.
Option 1
Use stock moabs with spacers
purchase 35x12.5x17 KM2 tires
Option 2
Purchase discount tire MB72 wheels 15x8
Ditch the spacers
purchase 35x12.5x15 tires
I have seen both options used, and I do like the moab style wheel, but what will give me the best performance and longevity.

I liked the look of the Moabs but I got tired of paying for rotations with my spacers, so I switched to the 15s with no spacers. However, my final price was over the $1500 level.

not sure I understand. How did the spacers effect rotations? I know with my current setup most chains would not service them with the spacers installed.

I think most will say that onroad performance will be better with the 17's, but offroad will be better with 15's.
Seems that most mfg's are moving away from tires for 15" rims, so the 17's would be your best bet for longevity. Especially if you are planning on taller tires in the future.

Some (a lot of) shops will not rotate your tires if you have spacers installed. Legal concerns. So I imagine that instead of free rotations at the shop he bought from, he was paying another shop to rotate for him.

What kind of performance you looking for? 17's = less sidewall flex (good for road driving) while 15's = more sidewall flex (good on trails). Also, you only have to buy the wheels once so your tires next go around are going to be that much less. Not to mention you get to keep your old wheels/tires mounted and ready to go if you want to sell them or keep them around if you ever need to put it back to stock. Choice for me was easy.
Also, spacers make me nervous... even though I have yet to see or hear of one failing.

I have 35 12.5 15 mtr's on the mb razor which is spec wise the same as a mb72. It handles fine on road and off road I have been pleased with my choice. I air down to 8-10 psi and never really worry about breaking a bead. The only time I notice much on road is on a hard turn. It's a bit spongy feeling as the tire grips the road and the sidewall shifts due to the momentum in the turn. I know its a tough decision since its a lot of money to end up regretting it. All I can say is I have 15's and have never regretted it.
