Default 35's - same make, diff price?

Hi all, question for you all. Might be missing something.

I'm looking at discounttiredirect.com website, basically just looking at getting 35's for my mall crawler. AT's for me, not really going off-road.

So, Falken Rocky Mountain ATS same size I think.

35x12.50 - 17 = web price is $999
315/70 - 17 = web price 883$

Aren't these the same size? Am I missing something? Whats the dealio?

Thanks,
Alex V.

Same but not the same.. Slightly different but not enough to really matter

One of the reasons they offer both sizes is because some people will only buy metric and others will not..

I'm no tire expert but if I recall the LT tire typically has stronger sidewalls, more plies and deeper tread than its P rated counterpart.

Compare the full specs for both. One is taller, wider and correspondingly heavier than the other.

Enough size difference to justify the price difference?

Had the 315/70/17 Falkens on my old Jk and a buddy had the 35" wildpeaks which is the same tire - 0.5" difference at 30 psi under load - not worth the extra money in my opinion.

Here are the 315's on my old Jeep -
