I put on a spacer for the spare so it doesnt hit.
Actually it does AFTER the gate is closed as it sorta keeps going and tags the bumper a bit.
But I'm on stock 16" rims so needed to do that anyway.

If you let the tire rest on the bumper...it supports it...and relieves the stress on the gate when you're bouncing around....that''s a good thing, and easier on the gate.

I'd leave it as is.

Also - for others reading/researching...a 35" tire is a nominal size...so some 35's might be 34" in diameter, and some might be 36"...the specs are typically on the web sites for actual diameter, etc.
