Axle sleeves wouldn't hurt either

Gussets now or offset ball joints later.

I concur - you need gussetts. Sleeves if your going to be a bit rough with it, just in case.

How important is it to do gussets right away? I've been running 35" MTR/K for about a week and a half and am just now gusseting it tomorrow. All on road use, and I haven't hit any sizable pot holes. What are the chances I didn't harm anything?

You wouldn't have any problems on the road with both tires sharing the weight, it's when you off road and have 1 side of the axle taking on all that stress is when you might have a problem...

Spend the small money now to gusset the C's and go ahead and sleeve the tubes and then you can wheel easy for a while without much thought. Then just keep an eye on your real axle shafts at the flange. That's my personal experience

What do people recommend for this? Any good writeups?

Most I can just find are people saying they did it.. not really what they did..
