Default 37s vs 38s

So im finally making some progress with the lift. I plan on running the Offroad Evolution 4in long arm kit.

My plan untill now was to run 37x13.5 Toyo m/t, but now im thinking about it and do you guys think that ill be able to get away with running a 38? i really like the goodyear kevlars and id love to run them in 38x14.5.

The reason im wondering this is because i know the Toyos are really heavy, and the goodyears are much lighter. i have EVO c gussets, alxe sleeves and a backbone on the the front end, and im wondering if that will be enough to run the 38s?

38 is a really odd size and just for that, i wouldn't run them. you never know when you might need to bum a spare off of someone else and for me, running a tire that lots of other people run gives you more options.

also, while the goodyears might be lighter, their sidewalls are nowhere near as strong as a toyo and, of all the tires i've personally run, i've found the goodyears to be the hardest to balance and the least predictable on the trail. just my 2¢

I think that the 38" Goodyears look great as well. I also love that they come in 14.5 wide. True Toyo's are heavier, but as WOL stated, it is nice to know you can when you need to bum a spare for a few miles to make it home.

Me, I would probably go with the 38" since I like the look of the Goodyears. Plus Toyo's seem to be so damn expensive. With you having sleeve and gussets already, you should be fine.

37's a more common size among wheelers than a 38". id vote 37 but in the Goodyear if applicable cuz toys are pretty beefy in the weight department

37" Toyo's will be a lot cheaper than the GY's. That' if you can even get the MTR's in that size. Last I checked a couple weeks ago they were on "forever" back order.

MTR/K's are still available, you just have to call around and find them. Looks like Goodyear putem back into production this month and they'll be shipping out soon. As for fitment, 38x14.5 will fit. You need to run at least 3.5 backspacing and you'll need to do some minor trimming. I just ordered the 38 MTR/K's and I'm gonna run them on the 3.5 RK XFactor. I spoke with Rock Krawler before I ordered them to make sure I could fit them.

I ran 38.5 boggers on my jeep and loved them. As for buying a tire to barrow a spare its a good idea but just depends on what the people drive that you hit the trails with. I have 37s on my jeep but no one around has a jk with 37s
