I just installed my OR-Fab tire carrier and need a fix for a third brake light. I'll purchase the light kit from northridge if there isn't an affordable solution that I like. What has everyone else done? Any ideas, thoughts?

A few folks have modified the existing third brake light in a couple different ways over the years. Some took it, cut it in half, then inverted the half with the light such that it would show through an opening/slot in the wheel. Others have taken and added some material between the two halves, extending the wiring, such that it it just above the tire. Would one of those ideas work?

I had thought about cutting up the factory carrier. I'm handy, but starting with my own ideas gets nowhere sometimes. I'll need to search it some more and see what I can find. I don't want it to look like shit. So I need to see what and where to cut well before winging it.

I saw this on a Jeep the other day and thought it looked great.

I've got these and they are great! Much brighter than the tail lights and original third brake light, and easy to install.....

Default Same question

I'm working on the 3rd brake light solution. Fitting the old light to my Hyline bumper/spare tire carrier.

I think it will work well when done.
