Thanks for makin my point. 4.88 is a tad more gear. It's always good to have a little more than you need than a little less. I never saw the need for a .56 gear. It just doesn't make sense.

My suggestion:
Manual with 33's - 4.10 or 4.56 for towing
Auto with 33's - 4.56 or 4.88 for towing

If you have even considered the possibility of 35's, bump those up a gear size.
Here we go again. Anything under 5.13's is a waste of money for autos.

OD on and not towing, no question I'd agree.

33's, towing with OD off, cruising at 70-75 on the freeway? What rpm range are you in?

Unless you'd recommend I tow my 3500 lbs boat in Overdrive?? No thank you...

Why the hell do you want to turn your OD off?

Everything I've ever heard or seen is 'push the tow/haul button', or 'OD off' when towing. If my JK had the engine and drivetrain out of a 1 ton truck, sure. But it doesn't, so I'd rather not take the chance of helping my transmission to an untimely end...

It's an automatic transmission. It knows what to do.

From Jeeps website...

When You Have An Automatic Transmission With Overdrive
* In hilly areas and with heavy loads, it is recommended you lock the transmission "out" of overdrive to prevent excessive gear shifting
May just be me, but I would consider a 3500 lbs boat to be a heavy load for a JK.

It's an automatic transmission. It knows what to do.
Apparently it doesn't...

In the OP's original post, perhaps ?

Or with your vast experience did you not even bother to read it? I already said I agreed with you on the 5.13's. But I also feel that going too deep is a consideration if you'll be towing, and it's worth mentioning, instead of just laying out a blanket statement that anything under a 5.13 is crap...
