Default 4.88s made for a NEW Jeep

so I bought a 2010 from a dealer and it had a 3 inch suspension left and 35" tires. 6 speed manual and for those in the know...it wouldn't get out of its own way. 6th gear could only be used down hill with a tail wind.

Insert 4.88s and ARB lockers front and rear and PRESTO...new jeep.
All the gears are useful and able to accelerate the jeep
gas milage show almost instant improvement from 13.2 to 16.8 and I am not even broken in

what a great investment

Music to my ears... I'm going with 35s and planned on 488s but most people say it's not enough.... But most people have autos. I like being able to drive 75-80 so I'm going 488s. Thanks for the info. How about some pics of the new jeep!

What gear ratio did you have before the 488s?

That is exactly the point. Autos and manuals have very different transmission gearing, so you have to pay attention and factor that into the advice you are seeing.

Everyones first stop should be the chart in the faq's to plug in some numbers and see where they will be.

maybe a picture...not sure how to do this...ok then Preview success

This is the jeep...on this great day it almost got stuck for it could not clear a red clay mud hill...no lockers at the time...can't wait to break in the new gears so I can go back out.

did manage to get up the hill that day...but it wasn't pretty
