40's on a d30?
Will it work or will i be buying new axels in a month? Very light wheeling in my area and no rocks at all to crawl over. Starting a new build on my rig and just wondering if I should save the money from the sleeves, gussets, and cm shafts and put it into a new axel?
I know some of you are break and upgrade guys, but I would rather not spend the time or money on all the upgrades for a d30 if I will have to buy a new axel in a few months. I did search for this on the forum and most of the answers were for 37's or lower on d30's. It it the same type of info for the 40's? Great forum!

if you're just drive around on pavement, i'm sure you could do it without any problems. being that you don't have a whole lot of rocks in your neck of the woods, you might even be able to pull it off doing light off roading. at bare minimum, i would install c-gussets and chromoly shafts but, if it were me, i wouldn't do it at all. if you really want to run big tires, you should spend the money and upgrade your axle. a dynatrac prorock 60 would be optimal but, at the very least, get a dynatrac prorock 44.

Well, I figured I would update this thread with what I decided on doing. Just dropped the rig off today to start the build. I went with a front PR 44 and 5.38 gears to push the 40's around. Added ARB lockers front and rear. here's a before and I'll post up some pics when everything is done. Thanks for the input!
