Default 4dr to 2dr???

I've been thinking about trading in/selling the 2012 JKU for a new JK. I've always wanted a 2dr but at the time of purchasing the JKU we needed the extra room. Now that the wife has a Grand Cherokee I've been seriously thinking about going back to my first love. 😊 Anyway, what are your thoughts? Any advice? Also, what do I need to know when lifting it? Anything different to know? Thank you

I had 2 CJ's and a TJ both of course were only 2 door then the 4 door came out and no one liked them except a few of us..I ran out and ordered a 2007 Steel Blue JKU Rubicon ...had it for a year and didn't like the extra room...didn't need it! Drove better than the 2 door 's but still wasn't feelin it ...now back in a 2 door some years later and it was like coming home...with all of it's bad road manners ...me likey!

Well, you could keep the 4dr, remove 2 doors, and have the benefits of both worlds...
Sorry - couldn't resist that...

If you lift a 2dr by 4", it is advised to replace the rear axle.

Also, you may want to take a look at the Full Traction CRC Link.
It replaces the rear radius arm, and eliminates the sideways movement of the rear axle.
This movement causes "snaking" - loss of directional stability. The constant need for small steering corrections is eliminated, both on and off road.
The improvement is bigger on a 2dr than on a 4dr, because the shorter wheelbase is more influenced by the sideways movements of the axle.
I have it on a 4dr, and the improvement is quite impressive.

You'll need to pay more attention to spring rates and shock valving lifting a 2DR if you want it to ride decently. The 500 lbs less weight and shorter wheelbase makes a huge difference. I've got around 4" of lift on mine and still have the stock driveshafts front and rear with about 5000 miles. No issues with torn boots yet, but I'd budget $650 for Adams shafts just in case.

Nice looking Jeeps!!!

When I went to purchase a Jeep my wife wanted me to get a 4 Door because it has more space for our 2 boys But I would not budge on the 2 Door and we ended up getting the 2 Door that day. I have no regrets about it love the look and road manners. If I need space I have a hitch basket for trips that need more space. But as soon as we get to where we are going it comes off easy.

I wanted a 2dr but my wife thought it best to get a 4 dr and I wanted a wrangler so I caved. I like my 2013 JKU but I continually wish I would have gotten a 2 door instead. Funny thing is a few months ago we went to Maui and rented a 2 door. I have to admit they do suck for space and the ride is not nearly as good. They do look better tho.

This is a pic of our Vehicles in the Garage. I told her we have her car for space if needed. You would be surprised how much stuff you can fit in a almost 17 cubic foot trunk.

Shoot I think if I lift her another 3" I wont be able to fit in the garage the antenna hits the door and the snorkel is the next thing to hit if I go bigger.

I let my wife have my 4 door and I got a 2 door. The only thing I hate about the 2 door is that it doesn't have the mods I want on it where my 4 door did. With that said it is different but I like it. The 2 door is more nimble and fun to drive. Actually about 1 hour ago I went down some trails that the 4 door would have never went down. The 2 door does have advantages but I have both so it's no big deal to me. I would suggest you drive one and see how you like it. The space in the 2 door does suck though that's the only draw back.
