Default 5" wheel backspacing on 2011 JK??

It was suggested to me by Quadratec that for some reason (??) 5" backspacing was not doable on my 2011JK 2dr sport, but ok on previous year JK's...This seems somewhat strange to me...The wheels I'm looking at are 16"x8" with 265x75 tires planned. Also, I'm confused on whats the difference between backspacing and offset??

Any advice or caveats for the 2011 JK wheel status would be greatly appreciated!

Thx,

Offset and backspace are different ways of determining how far into, or out of, the wheel well the rims sit. Offset is more accurate, but it uses rim width in the formula so is a bit more difficult to understand and use. If you see offset in the desciption, just use an online converter to get the backspace equivalent, then compare that to the stock backspacing.

As far as those rims go, my guess is that they are confusing the 16" rims with 15" rims that are known to need less backspace to clear the calipers, or they are thinking about future upgrades to aftermarket steering components or big brake kits that will require 17" or larger rims.

I have a 15, and run 5 in backspacing with 305/70/16 tires. I have no problems with them rubbing whatsoever. I don't offroad though so don't no how they would be when the suspension is flexed. Below is an easy converter for backspacing vs offset, hope it helps.

I have a 2015, not 15" rims. OP stated they had an 11. I wanted to make the distiction between years. I can't see there would be a differance between a 15 and an 11.

Thanks very much, but are they 8" width and do you know what the offset is?
