50 inch Rigid Radiance lightbar vs Westabo Throwback top
Installed my radiance 50 inch windshield mounted lightbar on Ace mount last fall and hooked up to my Spod. Liked the look and had the yellow background light which look like 3/4 ton clearance lights when you run them at night. Had the hardtop panels on and was very happy. Had a little of the common drone from the lightbar fins that I took care of with door edge guards. Fast forward to this spring and ran across the Westabo Black Forest throwback top. Was never a huge fan of pulling the freedom panels and this top looked like the ideal fix for my driving habits. Installed the top and it is great fit. First drive though and had terrible noise from top flutter from the lightbar. Read every post I could find about getting rid of top flutter on soft tops with the lightbar. Most people said to make sure the lightbar was not higher than top of jeep. The Ace brackets mount the lightbar just slightly below roof top already. I fabbed up a couple of longer brackets and tried every combination of higher, lower, closer, farther from windshield I could do. Got it a little better but Lightbar was starting to block windshield view when I had it mounted so low. Could never get it acceptable. If the wind was blowing and you were headed into it forget it. Had to make the decision of throwback top or 50" lightbar. I really like the throwback top but now i need to figure out what i am going to do with those two empty spots on my SPOD.
OBA and some windshield mounted lights.
That's my vote, but I'm biased about those funky light bars. Seems like half of people who buy em have slight aerodynamic issues afterwards.
There are a few threads floating around from other guys who just could not do without a light bar they don't need. Some fixes may work, but if you're done trying to mess with it that's your call.
Jeep looks great with or without it.
