Default 5th Tire

I am in the process of adding a 3" lift with 35 tires. My question is what is everyone doing with the spare? Should I just leave the stock tire on, or change it to the new rims and tires? I woiuld imagine that I will need to have a new tire mount?

the gate will hold the 35" tire. Several of us have them on stock carrier without many issues.

I can't decide on a tire carrier that I really like and am waiting for more options to become available. In the meantime I am going to build something like this to keep the tire from bouncing too much. I should have it done in the next couple days.

As long as the 35 with MT 17 rims fit on the existing carrier, that's great. I've seen some rigs that left the original tire - not the best.

One thing to consider is when going to a new lift, some lift kits require a new wheel with proper backspacing due to their control arms rubbing with stock wheels. For instance,my new Rock Krawler 3.5" upper rear control arm is pretty close to rubbing my wheel. And this is after running after market rims with 4.5 backspace. They recomend a wheel with I believe 4.75 backspace.I`m running stock 32 M/T`s,and when I wear those out & go 35`s,I may have a problem. So,I`d go with the same size tire/wheel combo all around so you don`t run into a suprise when the goin' get rough.Just a heads up
