Default Actual Lift Height

I've heard that different lift kits actually measure at different heights, for instance a TF 3 in lift is more like 4+. What about Full Traction lifts, how do they measure up in this respect? Thanks.

From what i understand it depends on the weight of your jeep to deterime the true lift height. If you have 300+ pounds in bumpers, then your jeep will sit slightly lower depending on the amount of additional weight. Also if a 4 inch lift is for a 4 door and a 2 door then the 4 door may get 3 inches of lift because of the additional weight, but some companies like rough country account for the extra weight of the 4 door, so when u order it from RC they ask you if you have the 4 door(unlimited) model so they can upgrade the springs to stiffer/taller ones.

Full Traction springs are pretty true to their advertised lift height.

I had one of the first TF 3" kits and got about 4.5" of lift. I was told that they have fixed that problem with a larger selection of springs.

I installed a Teraflex 2.5" coil spring lift on my four door JK, and measured before and after height. I got exactly 2.5" of lift in front and 2" of lift in back, for whatever that is worth.

How did you manage to get 3" from a 2.5" spacer?

I installed the 2.5 terra flex coil lift in 2 jeep, mine and my girlfriends. I have a 2 door soft top and got 3.40 inches and she has a 2 door hard top and got 3.15. The size on the terraflex lift is minimum of what u get. Same springs go on a 4 or 2 so u get more with 2 door cause of weight. Great lift. Love it. 35s rock climbing and no rubbing anywhere.

I was confused too, but after I searched and others had similar experiences. I didnt measure the spacers themselves, but I would assume they are 2.5". I measured from ground to fender before and after install.
