Ummm ... not true. I have the mopar add-a-trunk for my 4dr X and it requires that you drill 4 holes into the rear wheel wells. It's an easy enough install, but I did go back and spray some anti rust/corrosion stuff in and around the holes again later on to makke sure they didn't rust out. You'll have to pull the carpet as well.

Default add a trunk

Thanks for the info. Are there any good alternatives to the add a trunk that do not require any drilling, but also provide great security?

Sadly, my jk is a lease so I really cant drill holes in the back....or do many of the other mods to it that I want to it......Which really sucks by the way!

Just so you're aware ... the add-a-trunk is not really a great security option. I do love mine -- I live in the city and I "secure" items in it all the time, however, it really just gives the illusion of being secure. It is all plastic and the clips that hold / secure the top are really small and cheap. If someone wants in -- they can get in. This functions more as an "out of sight, out of mind" option. That being said ... It is great for my needs. And as far as the lease goes ... the holes will be covered by the carpet, so you may be able to get away with it .

get the Bestop Instatrunk. way better quality. 16-gauge steel. no drilling requried. i believe it works w/ or w/o the subwoofer.

it's basically as secure as the lock on your tailgate because that is the only way someone is getting in it.

I have the MOPAR in a leased vehicle. The holes are minimal and as stated above, the carpet will easily cover them. I like it a lot. It provides some added security, if nothing else out of sight out of mind.
