adding 1 inch body lift?
Very easy to install. Read the write up about jerking the bolts out. I racheted out the stock bolts until they felt like they were spinning free and used a seal puller to yank them out. Took no time to install the new ones.
Does the shifter drop down lower towards the floor by an inch, or does the boot simply need to be cut because of a change in angle from transmission to shifter? A little confused what is going on to require the trimming. (I understand you can't shift to 2,4,6 gears, but why?
its because it lifts the body 1" higher on the shifter, which causes the shifter to either hit the edge of the hole in the transmission hump or causes the rubber boot to bunch up and prevents you from getting the shifter into gear.
So then would I be correct in understanding that the shifter is one inch lower than standard? (in other words, you have to reach downwards 1 inch further than normal in order to shift gears?)
Yeah.....it all depends on what you are using for a refernece point. Technically, the shifter stays in the same place and the body lifts up, but thats splitting hairs. If you are sitting in the cab then body up 1" = shifter down by 1". Just depends on how you want to explain it, but its all the same result.
the engine/transmission/drivetrain is all mounted to the frame (including the gear shifter), so if you lift the body 1" off of the frame then anything that is firmly mounted to one of those parts would would sit 1" lower than it did before (if you are using the body as the reference point)

Righty-o! What I was ineffectively trying to ask is if you have to reach down another inch to shift gears (point of reference being the driver's seat). Right now I reach "x" amount of inches to shift gears, so a body lift, in theory, would drop that shifter down an inch in terms of me needing to reach for it, yes?
Does this annoy anybody, or is reaching 1 more inch lower basically negligible?
