Adding fog light switch to stalk - possible?
Is it possible to add the fog light switch to the steering wheel stalk on an 2008 X Model?
The patient is a 2008 JK X - that came w/o fogs or the switch on the stalk. (Option on the 2007's...NO option on the 2008's...)
It DID include the harness part that runs inside the bumper like the ones that DO include the fogs.
I swapped on a Rubi bumper that has fogs in it...I'm not worried about making a connection to the lights on THEIR end - assuming the harness is otherwise intact.

What my mission is:
To add the fog light end to the stalk, or change stalks, or other wise end up with a stalk switched fog light, like the stock set up with fogs.
Its my MISSION because its my WIFE'S JK, so my normal by-pass of
the mess with a simple relay/dash switch is NOT an option.
I AM able to just say, ok, then you have fogs, but they will never come on unless we pay X$, etc....and leave it all dark - BUT, if there's a way to get the stalk control...I'd like to know if anyone has any guidance.

Help?

Does your stalk pull out when the running lights or low beams are on but not when the high beams are on? If so then you might have the switch built in anyhow and it just needs to be added to the program.
Although there should also be a relay for the fogs for it to work properly IIRC.

Thanks Guys!
Is the stalk a plug in module type of thing (how is is swapped for another), and, I'm not sure what you mean by "Pull Out" - the end of the X's stalk doesn't have the same end cap as shown in the Owners Manual for the other's stalks...?

Almost $200, but it includes the stalk, harness and the lights them selves...but oval rather than round ones interestingly...
I think I'll pop over to the parts dept, and just ask them what the options are.

The end of the lights/turn signal stalk will pull out when on low beams. (Just straight out) if it doesn't then you will need the kit.

DON"T.
Wire the fogs seperatly so you can run them while using high beams.
Standard wiring dosn't allow this option.
I can not imagine why not but they claim "safety" is the reason.
It may be illegal to do so in your state.
The fogs provide good near in down low lighting.
I can't for the life of me understand why they wouldn't be allowed when in high beam mode.
Makes zero sense to me but then speed limits in the desert don't make any sense to me either.

Its on my wife's JK, so I can't just do my normal dash switch anyway...
I MIGHT be able to use a factory rocker switch in one of the unused facotry dash spots...like where the locker switches or E-Disco would have gone, etc...
I do need to confirm that the harness that APPEARS to be the same at the X's bumper, is in fact pre-wired to the correct connections to work off of the factory fog circuit, etc...anyone know?
