I don't have a real answer but I would think that they can both be added probably by simply getting the software reflashed from 08 to 09 software. I think with the hill assist, there is some type of valve body that you would need to hook up on the hydrolic clutch line. I remember when I had my previous vehicle 07 BMW 335i coupe all the 6spd's came with hill start assist and guys would bypass it by simply disconnecting the valve and connecting the lines.

The trailer thing is probably a software thing that would need to be programmed in maybe a sensor as well.

Pretty soon we can just send our Jeep out wheeling without us; we won’t need to be there.

No, I think I’ll operate my own clutch, brakes and do my own shifting. Just my opinion here but if you’re too lazy to do your own driving then maybe you should buy a Camry and while you’re at it get one of those nice little soccer ball stickers for the back window.
Agree 100% I couldn't have said it better myself!

I think they are about $280--because they are electronic.

With a hand throttle, you would have more flexibility in deciding how to use your brakes.

Also, I believe that with all JKs, you can start your vehicle in 1st gear when you are in 4 Low. So, if you are caught in a rock garden or on a steep hill, you do not need to press in the clutch pedal to start the JK & move forward.

As far as trailer sway control goes, I wouldn't think it is necessary with such a low max towing capacity we have on our JKs.
Yes, I agree with the 1st gear start in low and I also don't think we need trailer sway control with that low of a towing capacity.

that "hill assist" option sounds like it is for people who don't know how to operate there gas and clutch properly. I would not like that at all. If you know how to drive a manual properly you should not need this option. Just what I think.

well to close up the thread I guess it comes down to two things.

1. No one has any idea if it can be added. Only one person commmented that they thought it was possible.

2. No one seems to think it's necessary because most everyone has a clear opinion against having these features.

So I guess i'm not going to worry about it. I haven't have the jeep off-road yet but it sounds like no one is having any issues with the manual and the lack of low end power on steep inclines. As I said earlier, it looks like a bit of practice will probably do me just fine.

Thanks to all who posted.
