Adjustable Track Bar
I'm looking into doing a 2.5" coil lift, but am kinda wondering if i would be better off with an adjustable track bar, or just a trackbar bracket. What is the gain from going with a trackbar, instead of a bracket execept for the adjustability to go higher if needed?
The trackbar bracket drops the trackbar to get the dangle angle of the trackbar back to where it was, but all the forces are still being tranferred back to the original mount location.
If running an adjustable trackbar with a lift, one doesnt use the drop bracket too, do they? If not, the track bar angle is different than OE and has increased stress on it, is this a concern?
If someone is doing a lift, and can take pictures & measurements with an adjustable trackbar and the stocker it would be greatly beneficial.
Im curious, as we just started making a prototype trackbar bracket for a minivan at work (Another story, but im pretty sure if the wheel wells were big enough it would fit 33's). I am not involved with this project closely, but work beside it. Doing this, and getting ready for a lift, has me wondering and the gears turning.
I will in no way take anyones information as the gospel truth, so dont worry about engineering disputes or lawsuits.

I ended up going with the adjustable track bar versus the relocation bracket. Primary reason was I preferred being able to dial in the axles better, secondary was because I thought it would be stronger.
Adjustable trackbars don't break. Adjustable trackbars allow you to center your axles. I've heard RE is so desperate about their crap bracket that they're actually telling people rear axles are supposed to be 3/4" off center.
Do get the ones with zerks on'em.
Gee, you want a lot of stuff, like pictures and all.... If your only going 2.5 coil.. Just get the Terraflex 2.5 coil. Everything is included in the kit. I have it it works great!
THe front however doesn't have a braket to drop the track bar so everything is alligned. However, I hear from a reliable source that an adjustable traqk bar for the JK is well on the way.. The one listed on the Terraflex web site apparently won't work. And it is advertised for lifts from 3" up, not 2.5....
There are plenty of pictures of how install the kit BTW...

Only reason for a picture, is so I dont have to buy one to really see the difference between stock & an adjustable by someone. The company I work for, and the engineer that sits next to me has made a drop trackbar bracket for an 08 Dodge RT. I'd rather not make a bracket, but make an adjustable trackbar.
Thanks for all the info everyone.

There are pros and cons either way. In my opinion, adjustable trackbars are the way to go.
Adjustable trackbar:
- Pro: recenters the axle
- Pro: usually stronger than the stock trackbar
- Pro: gives you the ability to dial in exactly no matter what the lift. All lifts settle somewhat over time, and an adjustable allows you to recenter when necessary from settling or adding additional height.
- Con: does give you a different drop angle than stock
- Con: more expensive than a bracket
Trackbar drop bracket:
- Pro: recenters the axle
- Pro: keeps the drop angle geometry close to stock
- Pro: inexpensive
- Con: By moving the trackbar mounting points farther from axle and frame, it increases the torque applied to the axle/frame weld points
- Con: one setting only, cannot adjust for exact centering of axle
For me, the first con listed for brackets made my decision for me. We have seen many weld failures due to trackbar brackets reported here on this forum.
I went with the JKS adjustable trackbars. JKS builds quality stuff, and it uses stock-like rubber bushings which require no greasing and are quiet. Dave at Northridge carries them for a good price.

X 2 on the Teraflex 2.5 coil kit, it doesn't need a bracket or an adjustable trackbar. I thought you pm'd me on that?
Idunno, maybe that was someone else.
