Smile Advice on best option for lift on DD

Hello fellow Jeepers I'm sure there is a thread out there that talks about a lift for a DD but i wanted to get advice on something that is tailored more to what i am looking for. After many years of admiring others Jeeps i finally went and purchased my Jeep. Yes I am completely new to Jeeping and have never driven on a non paved road. Now that doesn't mean that I'm looking to have a pavement queen because I'm not, Im looking to enjoy my new Jeep both on the road and off. Its a 2012 JKU with 3.21 gears. As indicated earlier this is my DD and I'm looking for advice from you more experienced Jeepers as to what lift would work best for me. I would love to get 35s put on. I have the Altitude package with 18" rims and would like to stay with those wheels as i like the blacked out look. Im not sure if i should go with a 2.5" lift or 3" i don't plan on doing any heavy trailing but will be taking it to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

My biggest concern is i don't want to loose on the ride quality. I don't mind about the gas as i know that comes with the bigger tires and lifts. I have talked to others and have been told if i don't get the best lift I'm going to hate the ride. I have thought about the Terraflex and OME lifts and have been told that Rusty is better. I want to make sure i do this right so please any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you and God Bless.

I have a 2008 JKU with a 2.5" Teraflex BB. I drive it daily without issue except the aforementioned fuel mileage. I have 33" Nitto's on it and it still does well off-road I just have to watch my line a little better than the guys with 35-37's. The install is pretty easy and you can always upgrade to coil springs in the future.

thanks Woody. My original thought was to go with the Terraflex I watch a few clips on them and have seen others talk about them. What did the lift run you? cant remember if you mentioned.

I put a Rough Country 3.5" series II on about 2 months ago and so far I love it. The Jeep is my DD and I prefer the ride over the stock suspension. I ran a set of 285/70/17's for a week and they didn't look terrible, but the 35's look a lot better. I still have the 3.21 gears and a 6 speed so it is a little sluggish, but not unbearable. I do plan to regear when I get the funds thoughClick image for larger version

Ill suggest Rock Krawler all day
.
I have their 3.5" X-Factor with the high steer kit and it handles wonderfully on the road.
Correcting the front end steering geometry with a drag link flip and track bar relocation brackets is absolutely key.

I think for a DD, technically for absolute best street handling, you would want to go long arm but, I think the short arm handles just fine as long as you don't go more than a few inches, either way the flex is the same.

I have an automatic do you think it will be an issue? It is the 5sp automatic so I can always downshift but its not the same.

Welcome to the forum. I have a dd as well 85 miles a day with the teraflex 2.5 coil lift with a automatic and 373 .the coils are not that stiff as you would say a like rough ride it's my shocks that are stiff and i love the ride. Its an 08 jku with toyo mt 285/75/17. I average around almost 17 miles to the gallon which is not bad I'm very happy with it. I now have 107k on it. One thing about teraflex is you can add to your lift but again it's the shocks that makes up your ride good luck with your choice.

Coming from a 6 speed and not much experience with automatics in these Jeeps, I honestly have no clue. Maybe someone with an auto and 3.21's will chime in soon.
