"What would the fuel economy be like with 4.88's? And if I go with 4.88's do I still need a new carrier?"

A new carrier depends on what gearing you have now. I believe that 3.73 and 4.10s are good, if lower than a new carrier is needed.

MPG have too many variables: your foot; rolling resistance; aerodynamic drag; vehicle weight; ect. The average is 13~16 mpg.

I believe I have 3.73's now. So, if I go with 5.13's a new carrier is required. Is that correct? And are 5.13's overkill?

5:13s would be okay but the higher you go numerically, the smaller the pinion gear gets. Since you are in nice, flat, sea level Florida, I would stick with 4:88s. If you were towing, going 37s, or climbing mountains, you might consider 5:13s. I have 4:88, Superchips, Sprintbooster, and 35s and I am satisfied with my performance.

Ok. Sounds great. Thanks for the info. What kinds of Superchips do you have, is it th Flashpaq?? I was looking at getting either the TrailDash or the Vivid.

I have the flashpack. The Traildash was not available back when I bought mine. I think the Traildash may also have the same feature as the SprintBooster (which works) and also some features of the Aeroforce gauge. I got my Aeroforce gauge to monitor transmission temp.

I haven't heard of the Aeroforce. But I definitely want something that I can mount on the dash.

I am running a 2008 Jeep Wrangler X, so there is a D30 in the front. I live in Southwest Florida, so not much rocks or steep climbs, mostly just sugar sand and mud. While, the setup I am looking at may cost around $4000 (and I am up to suggestions on where to buy these), I am also concerned about the stock D30 with turning the 35's. I was looking at eaither the EVO C-2's and Magnum Sleeves, or the Artec Industries Armor Kit. Unfortunately, I cannot afford a ProRock D44 or I would go that route. Any input or suggestions on these setups? Also, which gears should I run? It is my daily driver and an automatic transmission. I was thinking 5.13's would be ideal. I know this has been covered time and time again, but I was hoping someone would chime in on this subject. Thanks in advance, and I hope someone will be kind enough to give me some kind of input.
We have the Gussets and sleeves in stock, We can get you the gears as well

You can really can go 4.88's or 5.13's. However 5.13's will give you the much needed power out of the 3.8 motor. 5.13's is not overkill on the 3.8 considering your pushing bigger tires and added weight to the rig.

Will 5.13's fit well on a D30 if I want to add a Detroit TrueTrac? And, are they necessary if I don't plan on going bigger than 35" tires or will 4.88 work well with an automatic.

A detroit will work with either ratio. 4.88's will be fine with the Auto. the 5.13's will just give you a little more power
