- Front Upper Control Arms : Not clear on why i need these
Same as you have listed for rear lowers - To adjust the axle position further.

A single set of arms will allow caster adjustment, but will also move the axle forward or backward - depending on which set of arms you're using. The second set is used for centering the axle front to back and for fine tuning. ex. to move the axle/tires into the center of the wheel well to allow more flex and avoid rubbing.

That said, if you are happy with the performance and axle positioning from a single set of arms, don't worry too much about the second set.

2 Weeks with AEV 3.5 + Clayton Lower control arms.

Seems like the Claytons will need to be regreased at each service cycle (oil change).

Ride feedback. No bad behavior. Very happy with choice.

Yep, the Claytons need to be lubed regularly. That is the drawback of replacing the factory CAs with almost any other manufacturer.

BTW, how much extension did you need on the LCAs?

I have the same arms and they required minimal extension, to the degree that IMO, the arms should be a tad shorter, maybe 1/2".

Same as yourself. It was minimal extension on the arms.

Right now i have a bit of rake. Some of it will even out after my LOD bumper goes on this monday. I assume i still end up with some. I don't mind it given that AEV indicates that it helps handling. No intentions of putting in coil spacers.

You are right they are installed at the factory on some Dodges and others, but if you have ever owned or installed any, it may become obvious they are prone to slipping, particularly if you do heavy wheelin' (flexing).

Of all of the CAs, the front lowers are arguably the ones that must support the largest stresses and are the most the critical for correct steering. The infamous
Death Wobble is usually attributed to some front end suspension component that is loose, failed or out of spec (e.g. unbalance tire, worn ball joint, worn tie rod end, loose cam bolt ).

So when you put all of the potential risks together, do you really want your JK pleasure to ride on a pair of cam bolts. It could be your lucky day and everything will work out fine or ...
The only redeeming factor is that AFAIK they rarely suffer catastrophic failure. They just get loose and cause other parts to wear and fail or make your life miserable trying to find the cause.

Freedom of choice. Choose wisely!
