AEV Bar what is e-coated?
The E-Coat system is used by all vehicle manufacturers to prime bare metal (body-in-white) assemblies prior to colour finishes.
It's a multi stage way of electrically bonding zinc/resin based primer to a thoroughly cleaned surface.
This is the system which make bodies last longer even though the newer high tensile sheet metal is thinner and therefore lighter.
Any part purchased already E-Coated is probably visible when installed and will require professional painting.Talk to the body shop guy whether it's best painted on or off of the vehicle depending on the type of fasteners being used.
