Default AEV Expedition Conversion

I am looking at purchasing a Wrangler Unlimited with the AEV with the Expedition conversion package. Sometimes I get set in my ways and don’t evaluate things fairly so I thought I would get input. With this package I was going to add on 37” tires (I am afraid if I go with 35” tires I will regret it in the long run and just upgrade anyway), and 4.88 gears (I am not trying to race anyone and drive mostly in the Midwest, and I have driven one of their vehicles with stock gears and 37” tires and it seemed to suit my driving style), and up the lift to 4” with the bead lock wheels.

The reasons I am thinking about going this route because I am not very mechanically inclined and want something that works and works well, their products are very aesthetically pleasing, they seem to be very reliable, and I would rather have one shop do all of the work so that they treat the vehicle as a whole, rather than several shops that don’t take other modifications into consideration. Also this way I can get the vehicle for invoice (local dealerships are above invoice) so this compensates for some of the expense with the modifications, and I have seens what my local dealer has that a local shop customized for them on an X model and the price is ridiculous. They added a mopar front and rear bumper, Rubicon rock rails, 2.5” budget boost, warn winch, and 34” tires for $13,000.

My main reason for posting is that I tend to become obsessed with things and don’t look at the whole picture so I wanted feedback if they have gone this route, or why I should not go this route. Also anything in addition that I should have them change / upgrade. If you want I can post an entire list of what I am going to get done, but you should be able to get a good idea from their website. I am not plannin on ordering until January, and I am pretty sure I know what I want, but it is a lot of money so I want feedback both good or bad to help me make sure I get what works best.

I am hpin for something similar to the one I have under the My Projeck-JK Gallery.

Default Aev Info

Just responding to try to prompt anyone with info about this company.

I have also been strongly considering buying from them. I love the website, and I am with you in that I would rather have ONE aftermarket provider do as much as possible to try to tie it together.

I did speak to the tech guy there last week or so, and he said they ae developing "their own" lift system now that they have absorbed the Nth Degree products as they went under. OTW they use BD/Superlift kits.

Hoping for answers.

Default AEV Experience so far..

I purchased an Unlimited Rubicon from AEV, but I have not taken delivery yet-hopefully early November. Other than the wait, I have been happy with their customer service.

Like you I wanted one shop to do the work and I like the looks of their products. They were very willing to do what I wanted. I ordered the Expedition package but I purchased the Currie suspension system in place of the Superlift. I am also running 37" tires-BFG MT T/A KM2 with beadlocks. I am going with Superior 5:13 gears as well as Superior front & rear axles. I am also having them paint my top Jeep Green.

I know this does not help with an opinion of how I like their products, but I can tell you I am happy with their service and willingness to do what I wanted. Hopefully I will be able to add an opinion of their final work in a couple of weeks.

Hope this helps!

I am excited for this, and that is part of the reason I am waiting until January. I think that since they have Dave Yegge on board now due to his involvement with creating the original design and engineering of the JK.

Just out of curiosity how much did the axle upgrades run?

I have spoken to them a few times and they seem to be great people to deal with!
Very nice, not rushed and willing to explain things to idiots like myself.

I am going to get their wheels (still debating the Pintier or Briger) I gotta find a good pic of each of them on a JK side view...
