Default AEV Wheels NOT Hub-Centric?

I just bought The Pintler Wheels from Northridge4X4, (fast shipping and great customer service BTW!), and the shop that installed them said that the wheels are NOT hub Centric. I don't get it. They measured everything and said that the Stock Hub: 71.50mm, Stock Rim: 71.58mm, AEV Rim: 73.00mm. So there will be a .75mm gap (airspace) all around between the vehicle hub and the rim hub when the rim is installed in on the vehicle so there needs to be Hub Rings installed to take up the .75mm. Anyone else heard of this issue? I've googled it and there are a few threads on Wranglerunlimited forum but with no answer from AEV what is going on. This irritates me bc I bought these wheels based off the fact that they are "Hub-centric" like AEV advertises. Anyone? BTW, I did call AEV and asked them what I just posted and he quickly said that he would have to ask an engineer and call me back. No call yet......

interesting as AEV has always advertised that they are hub centric. I would be a little miffed.

Yea, I feel like I've been duped. Now don't get me wrong, I love the look still, but I just don't get how they can advertise hub-centric when it doesn't seem to be hub-centric. Makes me question the company as a whole. It just seems sketchy. Although the Pro-Cal does work great. haha

Kind of odd but I have their catalog on my desk, I do see that on their Savegre they mention hub-centric but not the Pintler or their beadlock.... good luck.

Well according to AEV's own website it says "• Hub-centric design". Same thing as the Savegre. Very dissapointing. Still havent heard back from their "engineer"......

Ok so Kent,(a very nice guy), from AEV just called me back and said that the engineer said that in the past with doing the Wheel Hub-centric they had issues with the chrysler hub corroding bc it wasn't painted so when they made it hub-centric there were issues trying to take the wheel off. So they decided to make the wheel a little larger then the hub so there isn't direct contact so there are no issues with corrosion and taking the wheels off. I said that basically now they aren't hub-centric bc the definition of it is the same size as the hub and if it's larger then it's not hub-centric anymore. He paused, and said that he wasn't too sure but they needed to update their website to reflect the fitment. As in, they aren't hub-centric.
He said that if I did the Hub sleeve to tighten up the .75mm gap, when the hub starts to corrode it might be hard to get the wheel off so I should just let the gap remain. I don't know, It just sounds to me like they messed up saying it's hub-centric when it's clearly not, and now they're just trying to make it sound like they're doing the Wheel in a generic size for a real reason instead of just being like every other lug-centric wheel out there. It's hard to trust what they say now that I know what they are advertising everywhere is a lie. Kind of sad imo.

Man, that sucks. Nothing wrong with lug-centric, but when you're paying more for something you're not getting, it's a bummer...

What about the rest of the hub....guess it doesnt corrode??

Never had any issues removing factory wheels that are hub centric.

Hope they make this right....you purchased a premium product based on their info.

I was getting ready to order these wheels soon now I'm not sure. Now I'm wondering how important it really is to have hub centric. I was thinking it was pretty important but I haven't heard of people having a lot of problems with these wheels. I do really love the look! I've always been drawn to five spoke wheels. I guess I'd be interest in hearing more opinions.
