Default AEV Pintler Wheel thoughts..

Does anyone have any experience with the Pintler Wheels from AEV? I am considering these as they are similar to the stock wheel on my 08' Rubicon.

Right now running 35's and wheel spacers on the stockers, but for peace of mind want to get away from the spacers.

Curious if anyone has had any issues with the AEV wheel or know of a similar wheel? Only other wheel I saw similar was one from a company Mammoth makes, but never heard of them and can't find much input on those vs AEV.

I ran pintlers and currently run Saltas. My pintlers were the first generation and they were terrible in the rocks as the bead lip would catch and break. the new generation pintlers changed the bead lip so should be much better. the Saltas have been great.

In my opinion, the AEV wheels are way overpriced for getting the same type of wheel which is made in China like every other wheel out there. Do some Googling and you will find many have had problems with the AEV wheels cracking.

I wanted something similar to OEM as well to fit my 35's. I ended up getting the Dick Cepek Gunmetal 7's. Dick Cepek is Mickey Thompson's offroad series brand name, so you should find wheel sizes made to accommodate larger tires with a lift. However, GM7's have been discontinued. I guess everyone likes black wheels now and an OEM style offroad wheel is hard to come by. I would consider looking at the Dick Cepek DC-2's to see if you like those. In my opinion, it's a better wheel at a much better price than the AEV's.

I ran Pintlers in 17" with 35's for a couple of years. Never had any issues at all on or off road. I still did run a 1" spacer though as the backspacing is right on the limit for clearance when adding Synergy DL and TR. No, problems running the spacers with them. They are a good looking wheel.

I have over 100K miles on the stock wheels with spacers on my 07 Rubi. I run 37's with Spidertrax 1.5's with no issues at all. It may be a waste of money to move to another 17" wheel just for 1" more backspace. Personally I would only move to another 17" wheel to get beadlocks.

Yeah I am running 35 x 12.50 KM2's with the 1.5 spidertrax spacers. Has held up I like the look as well, but problem is no reputable tire shop in my area will mount a 35 x 12.50 to the stock 7.5 inch wheel.

I had to go to some sketchy gas station out of town to have them mounted originally haha.

Replacing my tires, so considering an 8+ inch wheel as well.

have run two sets without issue. really like them. silver doesn't show rock rash as bad as black. duh. i've run 35x12.50r17 and 315/70r17 on them. i have the synergy steering correction kit with no clearance issues. they cost no more than other quality aluminum wheels out there from fuel, method, etc. in fact there are many that cost a lot more (love the hutchinson rock monsters). of course you can find a style under almost any budget that you can live with. fyi, quadratec is making hard rock knock off wheels with similar backspacing as AEV so you can have the look of stock with 35's and no spacers.

Just got Saltas with 35s with an AEV 2.5 w/geo brackets. So far it's awesome.
