Default hit by a bus, I'd say they are great bumpers

Worth every penny to me as I walked away from a bus collision.

Overpriced is what turned me off. Great bumper? Probably. But my RC stubby was under $300, included my fogs and hides my winch pretty good. 3 years, no rust and still looks great with about 60k of highway driving and bush. Not as fancy but shes done well.

I've helped people install a lot of different brands of bumpers. Some are good. Some are better. AEV is one of the best. Are their products high priced? Yes. It costs more money when you do your own engineering instead of copying someone else's. It costs more money to hire Americans instead of Chinese workers. And AEV products are just better designed and built than most of them out there. In fact, I'd only give the edge over AEV to Shrockworks, and that's only because Shrockworks is far less common because they're production runs are so low. Oh, and because I happen to have Shrockworks all around my Jeep. LOL.

The lead Jeep here has AEV ...

Having installed an aev for a friend, I'll warn you it's not an 8 bolt install. There was lots of sub assy and some grinding involved to properly bolt it up. Me personally, I thought it was too rich for my blood but if your insisting on a full width bumper, I think it's one of the best.

I think aev is awesome. great products. another less common bumper is pronghorn, they are awesome and modular. very slick. If cost is a concern, have a look at the smittybilt atlas. after the coating breaks down, take it get it powdercoated with new coatings that have protectants in it and go on your way and still be much less than others.

Excellent point. AEV was one of the more difficult bumpers I've ever helped install. And they've done a slight redesign with the latest model. You might note in the video I posted above the red shackles on the front of the bumper. That's actually where the OEM crush cans are supposed to go. You used to be able to unbolt that hardware and then buy some other brand (sorry, IDK what brand) shackle plates and shackles to bolt in their place. That's what you see on the JK in the video. However, helped install an AEV a couple weeks ago and it now has those crush can plates welded into place. It's going to take quite a bit more work to put conventional shackles on. They do provide some loops that are hidden up under the bumper for tying a winch rope into. That is part of the complication with doing the install.

Used to be a huge aev fan...not so much anymore. Check out this ARB. Very similar and there are vendors on here who'll sell it shipped for $800
