AEV Snorkel Install Question
I'm getting parts rounded to install a snorkel on my 2012 JKU and was wondering if replacing the factory air filter element with the K&N was a good choice. From the info I got from other threads, its not advisable to install a CAI along with the snorkel. Also should I run it dry or oiled & will I gain any HP or MPG's? I'm also extending the breather hoses to make it water proof. All info is appreciated.
Yes, I am cutting the hood myself. After I mounted the Or Fab tire carrier and drilled the hole for the landing dock, that took all the worries out of cutting sheet metal. It's actually pretty easy as long as you take you time and measure twice.
Just in case you didn't read an earlier response - the AEV Snorkel does not fit any 2012 JK.
From their site:
JK Snorkel Kit
*NOTE: The AEV JK Snorkel Kit is not currently compatible with 2012 gasoline powered Wranglers.*
Make sure you don't cut your hood before checking everything first - the air box on the 2012s are completely different than the earlier JKs.
