AEV snorkel with ram air tip
Hi all,
Just wondering how effective the ram air tip is at handling splashes of water at slower speeds. I like splashing through puddles.
The pre-filterbowl looks too much like a fishbowl and willbe too prone at getting ripped off on branches around here.
I could see how the ram air works at highway speeds butam curious how it can handle trail speeds with big water splashed.
Thx
Mo

If you read the install, it show and describes how there are slots for the water to drain out the back side and bottom of the scoop. I also read a review where someone drove in a bad rain storm on the highway with it and checked the air filter after and it was bone dry.

In this thread, there is a diagram of how the water and air separates for a situation like you are talking about:

 thanks for the link Mad-Hatter. That answered all my questions.
Looks like the ram air is for me. They do look very cool too.
I like playing in the water and I think I should play it safe by getting a snorkel. Ingesting water would really blow donkeys.... :(

I run a Donaldson TopSpin pre-cleaner... There is on narrow slit in the side and is virtually waterproof otherwise.... Not sure if it would work with your setup, but figured I'd share...

The ram air works very well in water. This is the configuration I use most of the time for DDing. The only issue I have with it here in Idaho is the dust. That's why I also bought the Donaldson topspin H002437. The same company who makes the precleaner for AEV, but this one doesn't look like a fish bowl. It also cleans itself where as the bowl needs to be cleaned once in awhile. A little bit of AEV paint to cover the lettering and it looks very good.
