Default AEV tire carrier and stock bumper. Has anyone done this yet?

I was looking at different bumpers with tire carriers, and while looking I noticed that the AEV tire carrier can be purchased separate from the bumper and used with the factory bumper. They even have instructions online for installation. Price for carrier is a little high, but I like the setup.

Anyone do one of these yet?

Just wanted to add this info AEV forum says that it will handle up to a 39.5/40 inch tire.
Link to install instructions at Quadratec instruction for tire carrier

I almost went that route, but ended up ordering the AEV bumper also before I got it installed on the factory bumper.

Doesn't look bad in this pic though.

Some pictures that I saw months ago of the AEV carrier showed that it doesn't center up the tire on the rear. I can't remember if it sat more to the left or right, but it was enough to notice. The pic was taken from the rear and not at an angle.

Is this still the case with the AEV carrier?

Yes, the tire is a bit closer to the pivot for weight, strength, and lever action forces but I really never notice it. Also with a 40" tire the handle would be covered by the tire if it were centered.

thought Id chime in.. The tire is off center.. its a few inches to the right. its no where near blocking the handle.. I would say even running a 40" tire you would be fine.. the carrier is SOLID.. the tire doesnt budge. Anyways, I bolted it onto my JK saturday night.. pretty easy install.. Im thinking I need to loosen the bolts for the stock bumper and try to move it upward.. I think I bolted it a bit low on the frame.

As far as ease of use goes, Its no different than using the stock carrier, you open the tailgate just the same...

I've been looking at this setup for sometime now. I like the sleek design and looks but for the price I could get a smittybuilt xrc bumper....
