The above is correct but the Sahara and X with 17" wheels also come with 32" tires, they just aren't MTs. And the 4.10 gearing is available on all Wranglers, it is only standard with the Rubican, tow group, or auto tranny.

I have been driving my Tj with 37s ans 4.10's in it for about 7 months. Sure, 5th gear is almost unusable (manual trans). But it does fine while I procrastinate about doing the gearing.

How do you think an auto jk rubicon would do with 35's?

Lets just say that overdrive is not used much. Not bad enough that you could not live with it until some gears are available.

Just going to bigger tires even wiht the proper gears will lose you some low end. You are puling a lot more mass around. You could over gear though. Instead of 4.88s you can run 5.13s or something.

I'm a bit confused over the need to re-gear to anything. Running 35's with the optional 4.10 is still lower geared than a stock X with the 3.21 and 32's.

So, if a bone stock 3.21/32" Wrangler is fine, you should certainly be ok with 35's and 4.10's. I understand there is more weight involved, but you still end up with a lower overall final drive than a stock X with 3.21's, which works fine.

Am I missing something?
