Question Air filters ??

Hi! Looking for Opinion's - Thinking of getting an after market air filter. Like to hear from someone who's got a K&N or the like. Did it make any noticable difference in performance/MPG? Thank's!

you answered your own question. If you are going to do anything, get the K&N DROP-IN - any of the "CAI's" are an absolute waste of money. If I could find some sucker to buy my Airaid off me, I'd sell it in a heartbeat.

No performance gain period. If there is, you won't feel it. Anyone who says they can feel it is a lunatic. Same for mpg, some claim over 2-3mpg increase. I call BS. The only thing you'll get is a louder intake (sounds tougher). The Airaid is supposed to be one of the best breathing units there are as well. i was sorely disappointed.

First and foremost to the OP, if you're looking at getting a K&N drop in you might as well go to your local stealership and get a stock replacement. K&N are highflow filters and will let alot more crap pass through than a stock filter will. As for CAI's, I installed a True Flow XDI a week ago and there has been much improved throttle response and some Torque gain for sure, no more gearing down on inclines to keep RPM's up. As soon as I started the Jeep after installing it I could tell the engine was breathing 100% better than it was with the stock box. I havent even looked at mpg but tomorrow i'm going on a roadtrip, about 850 km's so i'll see then if there is an increase or decrease in mpg.

AFE has a new dry filter drop in for the JK. I was looking into getting that.

I put the K&N drop in in my unlimited, and it gave me a little more pep and increased my mpg by about 1mpg. Worth the money to me, and a lot cheaper than the full out CAI's. Those things are a little steep for me right now.

There's no doubt in my mind there is benefit to the K&N drop in, thats what I looked at getting before getting the XDI intake. But its been proven that not only do they flow more air but flow more dirt/crap/etc.

I went from stock to K&N drop-in to Airaid CAI and back to the K&N. Airaid was neat but I don't like having the open air filter.

I just ordered the AFE drop in from Quadratec. They said it should be here in a week.

Default I got a CAI and Love It

I installed an AEM Brute Force filter and Love it! I agree with Adam in that I too felt a difference in low torque and less downshifting on the highway. I already had a high flow exhaust installed before I installed the CAI though.

I didn't put it on a machine, but I believe I notice it, and that's all that counts in my book.

That AFE air filter seems to combine the best of both worlds, CAI but keeping the stock air box. I have the K&N, it seems to do okay, but I kept my stock one just in case, and plus I need to clean (recharge) my K&N filter soon.
