An unbalanced wheel vibrates because uneven weight distribution throws it into elliptical motion.
The elliptical contour allows the pellets to concentrate at the far ends, where they're needed for balancing.

I just got back from my trip to camp. driving on the highway stunk. from 55 to 75 iit shook sporadically pretty bad. 1 minute it would be good at a speed the next minute start shaking. do I add two more ounces to each tire or get them balanced?
