Default Alignment issues with 35s?

I heard from a friend of mine who works at a tire shop that some jeeps have been known to have issues with alignment after throwing on heavy tires. I guess he said it had something to do with a part on the axle that lifts up near the tires. I know that's probably the most horrid description known to people, but hey. Anyway he said something called a truss kit will help strengthen it so it doesn't bend and warp then throw off alignment.

Figured I'd check in here to see if anyone has ever heard of this? Anyone have this happen to you?

your friend was refering to the axle c's. if you are running 35's, you'll want to gusset them up to help prevent them from bending. if they bend, you will have positive camber and fixing that isn't easy. a lot of folks here have off road evolution c gussets including myself and they work well.

Yup that's the part! He said you can purchase kits online so I'll give those a look. Unless there's an easier do-it-yourself way with a quick Home Depot trip.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Definitely not a DIY part construction, in my opinion. Cost, Time, Tools necessary doesn't quite make it a good mod part to make yourself. It does require some heavy duty welding to the axle as well.

After minor consideration... I'll pass on doing it myself. I'm wondering if the performance shop that is putting on my lift kit and alignment does that as well.

I'd take it to a shop (like Evo who makes the parts and installs them all day) and have them install it. Or a real off-road/fab shop. If you don't have a friend with a solid 220 welder and knows how to use it, I'd suggest paying the right person to do it correctly. I was lucky enough to have a local friend with a welder and willing to help on mine.
