Default Line-X Question

Alright before you guys tell me to use the search function, I already have.
My question is for those that have gotten this done, did you get the straight black or a lighter gray color? I have a stone white Jeep and I do not want the color match even though it looks nice. My biggest concern really is the heat that will be put out from the sun coming off the line-x. I was just seeing if anyone has any input on the color they have chosen. I just got off the phone with Line X and they said if everything is stripped out it will be $450 for the spray (black only). An extra $200-250 for any type of color including a gray tone. Trying to decide what would be the best choice for heat and looks. Also the heat shield, leave it or air chisel it out?

Thanks again for any input.
Pics would be great

I too am curious about the heat shield glue and removal.

I got caught in a monsoon in Illinois yesterday with the top off. The interior was flooded and I just removed all the interior and threw it in the trash.

I am just going to line-x it next week, but I want that heat shield out!!!

That is an awsome price! I was quoted 900 with everything removed. Needless to say project on hold.

My dad and I owned a spray on bedliner shop for two years until we ran out of money. We used a product called "Permatech". Our material was a bit different from Line-X. The Line-X is a polyurea (sounds like a body part) and our material was pretty much pure polyurethane. The major difference is that the polyurethane is more compliant and not as hard as the Line-X. For crawling around on the floor of a Jeep running wiring for example, the Line-X is not much fun. Unless 50 grit sandpaper is your idea of fun, but it comes down to personal choice. Line-X is a great product, not knocking it at all. The only issue I saw with Line-X (other than the feel of it) was that it tended to fade a little in the sun. I think Line-X has added more UV protection over the years to help reduce this. As for your question, this is where colors come into play. Black has the best UV protection period. With black your liner will not get as faded as it would with a lighter color. That is important for a Jeep because you will at some point have the top off baking the interior in the sun. Some parts are always in the shade, some are not. If your liner fades, you will effectively have a two-tone interior! I would stick with black, or at least a darker color. I sprayed a few TJ’s and CJ’s during my time in business and they came out very nice. BUT – if you don’t know what you are doing it could very easily turn out like crap! Make 100% sure you see some actual interior jobs that this shop has done BEFORE you get yours done. Good luck, make sure to post pictures when you are done.

I actually got my jeep rhino lined about 2 weeks ago and I have to say i love it. Although the price was a bit steep ($850) for everything to be removed and lined. I believe they used like 5 different coats of black. It seems to be doing well with the sun and not much heat is put out from it as i would think, but then again I have only had it done for about 2 weeks.

The fading will take place long after you are over the $850 shock! Rhino Liner was the very worst offender of fading. Like Line-X, I think enough people complained and they added better UV protection so you are probably OK. I think Rhino makes a spray on protectant, if they do - use it. You can thank me in a few years.

I got my whole bed sprayed in black and its on a black jeep. Looks great. I highly recommend it. If you plan on keeping the jeep forever like i do it is a great investment because it will keep the inside bed from rusting or many other problems from coming up because you got everything soaked and what not. Ill post pics up here sometime soon to maybe help you. cheers
