Default All Terrain or Mud Terrain

I am ordering some 15x8 Mojave teflons.

I am trying to decide which BFGoodrich 35x12.50's to use...

I like the Looks and the ability of the Mud Terrains, But I drive about 150-250 miles on the highway every week, so I was thinking All-terrains would be better....

What do you guys think? Is that too much highway driving for Mud-terrains?
Or sould I just go with All-terrains?

I like the mud terrains and they seem to be wearing pretty well so far. They do make some noise but it is not bad at all for a tire that aggressive looking.

Well, at first you would think All-Terrain.

I was in almost the same situation ah probably 2 1/2 months ago....needless to say I went A/T .....

Also needless to say, I am getting M/T's put on tomorrow morning.

If that answers your question(Go M/T's or you might regret later, I know I did)

More importantly... How often do you go offroading? If you go very often at all, go with the M/Ts.
I went with A/Ts and I wish I'd gone with M/Ts.

I go offroad at least once a month.

I guess that main thing I would worry about is if they would wear too much with that much highway driving for them to be worth it. The noise wouldnt bother me so much, just worried more about tire life.

With that kind of road mileage, I would lean toward the A/T, as long as they won't be a hindrence for the kind/frequency of your off-road adventures. I guess only you know what that will be. You can expect the M/T to wear faster and be a bit less forgiving on the road though. I know for me when it's time for new tires if my Jeep is still a DD it will be A/Ts, if it's a secondary vehicle I'll go with M/Ts.

Default Muds

I have the Mud Terrains and love them. I've put about 10,000 miles on them and they haven't worn much at all. From the reviews I read before I bought them, they wear really well (about the same rate as the All Terrains). It depends on which look you like really, because the All Terrains do well in mud also. I had All Terrains and switched to Muds and won't go back.

Go with the m/t's. I have the A/T's and wish I would of gone with the m/t's. The new BFG KM2's are suppose have a real good on road ride, that will probably be my next tire.

4 Wheel Parts current issue of Off Road Adventures has a great article about choosing tires. There's probably a few write-ups on various webpages, but I've never looked.

I went with Pro Comp Xtreme MTs and love 'em. Highway noise is low, but there is a little bit of wandering. Some of that may be due to the large amount of sidewall rubber between a 16" rim and a 35" tire diameter. It isn't anything overly bad, but you do notice it at highway speeds, starting/stopping, etc.

I was originally looking at the Xtreme ATs, but a couple comments from the sales guys at shops said they'd had a couple customers return them lately because the didn't like them...never did get a straight answer on why they didn't like them...but played it safe and went to the MTs.

I went with 16" wheels to cut down on the cost of the tires.

WILL 15" WHEELS EVEN FIT ON A JK? I THOUGHT IT TOOK A 16" TO ADEQUATELY CLEAR THE BRAKING COMPONENTS?
